Brotherton Brewery

Last Friday, my friend Lynn and I were in need of a girls' night out. She sent me a text inviting me to join her for dinner and drinks at Sharrott Winery for a few hours. Following our meal, drinks, and the live show, we concluded the evening with a wine club pickup. We drove our cars to Atco for craft beer at Brotherton Brewery Co., Located at 2208 Atco Ave.www.brothertonbrewing.com

Owned by five friends, their dream was to open a craft brewery in South Jersey. Their goal: to expand the boundaries of craft beer styles and flavors, crafting some of the finest beers for everyone's enjoyment.

In 1758, European colonists established the first Indian reservation in the US in Shamong Township, NJ. The 3,000-acre reservation was called the Brotherton Reservation and was created for the local Lenape (sometimes called Delaware) community.

Fast-forward to 2015. Brotherton opened with a 15-bbl brew house, 6-bbl fermenters, and a 15-bbl Brite tank. They partnered with Hunterton Brewery and began production and distribution in June 2016 with three core styles of craft beers: 1. Brotherton IPA, 2. Jersey Devil DIPA, and Green Earth Pale Ale. They have expanded to over 60 styles and over 500 individual locations throughout NJ and PA.

Brotherton boasts an impressive selection of craft beers and seltzers, available on tap and for take-home in crowlers, refills, and cans. It's an ideal spot to bring your dog, offering outdoor seating during the warmer seasons, and operates on a BYOF (Bring Your Own Food) basis.

That concludes my fantastic journey for today. What destination awaits me next in the Garden State remains to be seen. Don't forget to like, follow, and share to spread the word! And as always Have fun and travel safe.

ShoreTown Ballpark (Home of The Jersey Shore Blue Claws)

Last month, one of my co-workers in the military gave away tickets to a minor league baseball game, so I said, "Sure, why not?" I haven't been to a minor league game since the Trenton Thunder game in 2008 at the Mercer County Waterfront Park.  So during that weekend, I traveled to Shore Town Ballpark, which is the home of the minor league baseball team Jersey Shore Blue Claws, which also is one of the affiliates of the MLB team Philadelphia Phillies, who might I mention is the 2024 MLB Eastern Division Champions ( Go Phillies!) The ballpark is located at 2 Stadium Way, Lakewood, NJ. milb.com & https://www.mlb.com/news/featured/visit-shoretown-ballpark-home-of-the-jersey-shore-blueclaws

The ballpark is lovely and family-friendly, with a boardwalk where you can walk around to any concession stand with reasonably priced foods and drinks, mini carnival games, a Biergarten, and a concert stage for live band performances. At the right-field corner, they have a 9-hole miniature golf course, and the holes on the course are named after the legendary Phillies Hall Of Famers Cole Hamels, Ryan Howard, and Rhys Hoskins.  There are only six fire pits by reservation and five lifeguard chairs on a first-come, first-serve basis with a ticket purchase. The concession stands offer delicious foods like pizza, burgers, hot dogs, and more. They also give away fun things like hot dogs and t-shirts. And their gift shop has a lot of Blue Claws and some Phillies Merch.

Well that is my Summer adventure for now. We welcome Fall with new places to go and more things to do. Remember to like and share this blog with the people who love. Have fun and travel Safely.

Double Nickel Brewery and Mechanical Brewery

Yesterday, Lynn and I were filled with anticipation as we decided to have a Sunday girl's day out at a friendly South Jersey brewery that we haven't been to in a long while, so we both decided to check out the newly renovated Double Nickel Brewery located at 1585 route 73 Pennsauken, NJ dnbcbeer.com. We were immediately drawn to the cozy atmosphere and the friendly staff. The beer selection was impressive, and we particularly enjoyed the [insert specific beer name and your experience with it]. The addition of the pizzeria, cocktails, and wine was a pleasant surprise, and we can't wait to go back and try more of their offerings. Double Nickel was initially opened in 2015. At first, it was a bar tap room with several different craft beers where you could sit with family and friends, bring food, watch your favorite sporting events, and play other games like corn hole and board games.  They weren't allowed to have a liquor license or sell food then. Then, around early June of this year, they decided to add a pizzeria, cocktails, and wine (but you can still bring your food), and all I can say is that the pizzas are excellent, and the craft beers are fantastic!  The Dime Pizzeria at Double Nickel has a delicious menu of pizzas, from traditional tomato pie to "The Happy Hog" sausage  Pizza.

They also serve hot dogs, garlic pillows, mixed greens salad, marinated olives, and garlic Bavarian pretzels. Double Nickel also has Happy Hour from 4 to 6 and Fridays from 2 to 4. You get one pizza slice and one glass of beer.

Our last stop was at Mechanical Brewery, 5 Pernia Blvd Suite 800, Cherry Hill, NJ. mechanicalbrewery.com  Mechanical has an excellent craft beer and seltzer selection. They also offer a 20.00 beer and bunt, in which they pair four samplers of different craft beers with little bunt cakes from Nothing Bunt Cakes in Cherry Hill. I don't know if they will do that again, so ask the employees if or when the brewery will do it again. They also offer a membership, where if you come to the brewery 12 times within a year, you get t-shirts and other fun goodies. Mechanical has fun events like food truck festivals and live performances for everyone.

The Ambiance indoors is great for date night, girls/guy night, and private events, and you can also sit outdoors at their canopy tents to enjoy your craft brew and food. Mechanical is a BYOF (Bring Your Food).

I hope you all enjoy my latest adventure. Even though summer is almost over, that doesn't mean you should not leave the house and have fun. Where will my next day trip take me next? Well, only time will tell. Remember to like, follow, and share this blog with everyone. Have fun and travel safely.

Drag Queen Brunch At Tortilla Press Cantina

Hello, my fellow NJ peeps. Today, I will tell you about this beautiful Mexican restaurant that my four wonderful friends and I visited several weeks ago for a drag queen brunch provided by Drag Queen Entertainment at www.dragqueenentertainment.com  called Tortilla Press Cantina, located at 7716 Maple Ave. Merchantville, NJ tortillapresscantina.com  Tortilla Press has excellent daily menu specials like Chips and fresh Guac, Queso or Salsa, Mexican pizza, and cheesesteak empanadas. Also, they do Happy hour from 3 PM to 6 PM on Wednesday through Sunday and all day on Tuesdays. Refreshing cocktails like Margaritas, Bloody Mary, Sangrias, and Mexican Beers ( can't go wrong there).

Some Sundays, they have Drag Queen Brunch with talented queens who can perform a fierce show for you and make fantastic clothing changes afterward. There are fun contests and a meet-and-greet while you order your Prefix menu, which includes one Specialty cocktail/Beverage, starter, and Entree. Go to the Drag Queen Entertainment web page for more info if you want to attend; it is family-friendly, but they ask you to use your discretion; some adult content may not be suitable for children under 21.

One of the hosts is Drag queen performer Astala Vista. She's a fierce queen who knows how to make us laugh and have fun simultaneously. She and the other Drag performers are fantastic, and we should all support our local LGBTQ community by going to drag events in your area.

Well, that's my fantastic journey for today. Only time will tell where I will go next on my little adventure. As always, share, like, and spread the word about my blog. So have fun, live life, and be safe.
