Last Wednesday, my friend Lynn invited me to a Philadelphia Phillies game (and they won against the Seattle Mariners, by the way). After the fantastic game, we went back to Deptford to visit an incredible brewery, which happens to be the sister brewery of the one in Glassboro. I'm talking about the Bonesaw Pilot House located at The Deptford Mall, 1750 Deptford Center Rd. Suite 1500 www.bonesawbrewing.com Bonesaw features an 8,000-square-foot design inspired by an old-world airport, complete with a flip-board menu that changes right before your eyes and a massive skeleton pilot soaring overhead. Lynn and I enjoyed a flight of four different craft beers at an affordable price, along with a delicious glass of a Russian Imperial stout called "Call Me Chris." They also offer craft seltzers and seltzer slushies, and for those who don't drink alcohol, they have craft sodas and non-alcoholic beers.
Bonesaw is a BYOF (bring your own food) spot where they provide menus from various restaurants, allowing you to order food for delivery both indoors and outdoors.
After drinks, we headed to a beautiful Italian restaurant just a few miles from the mall called Filomena's Lakeview, located at 1738 Cooper St, Deptford. www.filomenalakeview.com In the 1700s, it served as a stagecoach stop called The Lakeview Inn. By the turn of the century, it had transformed into an Italian restaurant named after the owner's mother, Filomena, who came from Abruzzi, Italy, bringing all her recipes to share with the chefs. Filomena's is an amazing spot for happy hour with friends, family, or even a date night. The ambiance is stunning, with a charming little waterfall welcoming you at the entrance. Inside, beautiful fireplaces create a cozy atmosphere both upstairs and downstairs, complemented by original hardwood floors and stonework. They offer both indoor and outdoor dining options, complete with cocktail bars and an authentic Italian menu, as well as an extensive cocktail and wine selection.
If you're ever in Deptford, no matter where you're traveling from, be sure to give these places a try. That's it for my adventure for now, but who knows where I'll go next! Just because summer is almost over doesn't mean the fun has to stop. Be sure to like, follow, and spread the word about this blog. Travel safe and have a great time!
